01Tahoe to Vista
Luke Richard found the work in South Lake Tahoe, framing custom homes for small contractors at seven thousand feet.
Mountain building is unsentimental. Snow load decides your framing, the season decides your schedule, and anything you cut a corner on comes back in the spring. He learned to build there before he learned anything else about the business.
What he wanted next was the union. Becoming a Journeyman Carpenter recognised across the Carpenters Union meant years of being measured against a standard set by people who had been doing it far longer, on jobs far bigger than a custom house. He earned that card through Local 619, and a Fabrication Technician card through Local 47 alongside it.
Then he left to build under his own name. Richard General Contracting has been running out of Vista ever since, working from Oceanside and Carlsbad down through La Jolla and San Diego and east to El Cajon. It is not a big company and it is not trying to be. Luke and the crew are on the job every day it is running.
The Mark
The shield is the Richard family crest. Luke built the company logo around it so that every job carries his family name and his own reputation, and so that every customer gets treated the way you would treat family. The motto came from a friend when he started out, and it is still the whole operating manual: under promise and over deliver.

Fixed scope, honest changes
The price is written down with the scope beside it before work starts. It moves only if you change something or a wall opens on damage nobody could see, and you get that in writing first.

The number you call the first time is the number you call during the build and the number you call two years later. It goes to Luke.
